Partnership/twinning program in Sweden

The study tour is a preparation for the partnership/twinning between 4 municipalities in Sweden and Uganda and the participation in the Second World Championship in Cooperation, Kampala June, 2008. The Partnership program is financed by Swedish Association of Local Authorities’ and Regions International Development Agency (SALA IDA):s program Municipal Partnership North-South and respective municipality.
The partnership municipalities/cities are:
Kalix-Kampala; Robertsfors-Busia; Skellefteå-Jinja and Vimmerby-Mukono.
Programs were organized in respective municipality and a 3 days seminar for all the delegations in the Globetree. The seminar included
• Presentation of Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions,
• Presentation of Children’s Ombudsman
• Summarizing the week and sharing between cities. Drafts of partnership programs
• Presenting the World Championship in Cooperation (WorldCiC) in Kampala 2008
An important issue of this Study tour is that the cities/municipalities have agreed to work together on the Rights of the Child and Agenda 21/Sustainable Development. All work is within the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
