UNEP Governing Council Conference on Globalization and the Environment – Opening Ceremony and WorldCiC
Globetree and Tree Theatre of Malaysia were invited to compose the Opening Ceremony of the UNEP (United Nations Environment Program) Governing Council Conference on Globalization and the Environment. The Conference was called Connected Dreams which was the contribution from Varberg Municipality (Sweden) to the World Championship in Cooperation in Stockholm 2006. The Connected Dream is a huge drop of water containing all nations of the world and was placed at the entrance of the Conference. 120 children from Kenya, Malaysia and Sweden were welcomed by UNEP Executive Director Mr. Achim Steiner and the Opening Ceremony became a success.
After the ceremony ministers, ambassadors and mayors came to the Mother Tree to meet the children who had prepared questions.
H.W. the Mayor of Nairobi invited Globetree to the City Hall to discuss the World Championship in Cooperation. Several cities in the world wish to host the WorldCiC and the meeting had focus on how to cooperate between cities.
Kampala will host the WorldCiC 2007. Mayor of Morelia (Mexico) wish to host the event 2010. Mayor Nairobi 2012. The Director of Tree Theatre will bring the information to the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and prepare for the WorldCiC 2014.
During the following days the children from the three nations came together at several occasions and planned for their participation in the WorldCiC in Kampala in June 2008.
