International Invitation to the
World Championship in Cooperation

The Lord Mayor of Stockholm, Mr. Barry Andersson, joined the Swedish delegation to participate in the preparations for the World Championship in Cooperation to be hosted by the City of Stockholm in June 2006. Mayors, councilors, project leaders, children and youth from the Lake Victoria Region and Sweden came together at the Children’s Meeting Place – The Mother Tree – at the United Nations, Nairobi.
A Mayor’s Meeting was hosted by UNEP (United Nations Environment Program) to discuss the program for the large delegations from the Lake Victoria Region. The Lord Mayor of Stockholm presented the program for the World Championship in Cooperation. UNEP and UN Habitat presented ideas of cooperation and would publish the event in the UN network.
At the Children’s Meeting Place children and youth discussed how to prepare for the Future Vessel in Stockholm and suggested themes for seminars and workshops.
Lord Mayor of Stockholm, Mr Barry Andersson joined the visit to the Children’s Garden. He was impressed to see the outdoor education, the creativity of the children and the dedicated teachers.

The Deputy Mayor of Kampala, Ms Florence Namayanja, said she is very much looking forward to come to Stockholm as the Kampala City Council will be the host of the Second World Championship in Cooperation 2008.
The Swedish delegation made other visits to schools and children centers. – When you come to Stockholm we will make sure you have a good time and we will invite you to our homes! It will be a lot of fun!
All parted with a lot of expectations and looking forward to meet soon again!
