African Participants
The Children’s Water Way and the seminar Children’s Dialogue with Mayors received a lot of interest at the Stockholm Water Symposium 2004. Globetree in cooperation with Lake Victoria Region Local Authorities Cooperation invited young participants from 16 cities/municipalities of East Africa, Italy and Sweden. The program was sponsored by Sida through the Union of the Baltic Cities (UBC). The 16 children and youth delegations brought exhibitions called Water Landscapes - which presented the water situation where they live. During three days the children shared their water situations with the delegates of the Symposium. The children also built bridges between the presented exhibitions. The bridges visualized how the children see connections between water situations over the globe.
The children’s voice:
- We have together created a whole new world of water, friendship and love. We share water as resources with each other, we build and create different perspective of life and living conditions, we help and try to give ideas. Together we work, we use our minds and come up with solutions on different problems. Children have the wonderful dreams and now we are here to share it, share our knowledge our ideas and of course our friendship.
Together we are ready to build a whole new world.
