Study Tour- April 2004


Program April 2004   

H.W. Mayor of Mukono Mr. Johnson Muyanja Senyonga and H.W. Mayor of Busia Mr. Michael Mugeni, from Uganda expressed interest to visit Sweden and learn more about the Globetree activities and Swedish network in regard of the Rights of the Child and Sustainable Development.
The request was presented to Globetree at the Preparatory Roots Meeting at the United Nations, Nairobi, Kenya one year earlier. Mr. Moses N’dungu, initiator and director of Children’s Garden and Ms Jane Ruvaga, Primary School teacher came to Sweden together with the mayors and the young student Vincent Mwangi. The program was intense to seven municipalities in Sweden and with many visits in each town.

The delegation was welcomed by the Lord Mayor of Stockholm, Mr. Barry Andersson to the Stockholm City Hall. In Stockholm the delegation also visited the Stockholm Royal Institute of Technology and Skärholmen City District. After a seminar and a dialogue at the Strängnäs Children’s Meeting Place the delegation celebrated the Swedish tradition of Valborg, the last day of April, when big fires are lit in each city. Visits and programs in Kalmar municipality in the south and Borlänge and Robertsfors in the north of Sweden were also in the program. Haninge, close to Stockholm was the last and all joined in a creation of a Future Vessel guided by students of Brandbergsskolan.
