Letter from Associaton of Space Explorers USA
September 13, 2001
I write on behalf of the world's astronauts and cosmonauts to express
the admiration and appreciation of the Association of Space Explorers
for the efforts of the Globetree Foundation in promoting children's
rights and welfare, environmental awareness and intercultural
sensitivity and understanding.
The tragic events of the past few days have demonstrated how important
it is to imbue the next generation and future leaders of our world with
the ideals of peace and understanding among peoples and cultures. We
applaud your successes and encourage you to continue your efforts ton
convey to the children of the world the message and vision that we in
ASE share: that in thus Great Cosmic Abyss, we are all fellow travellers
on our home planet and we all share a responsibility for the future
welfare of our common home and its plant, animal and human life.
Today, we despair over the climate of hate that pervades our world and
weep for all of the innocent people who suffer from its indiscriminate
consequences. Globetree represents a shining beacon in what is for us
our darkest hour, on a day seemingly devoid of light and hope.
ASE renews its commitment to supporting Globetree and the Future Vessel
in any way that you see fit for us to participate. We are pleased to
accept your invitation in the Future Vessel 2002 and very much look
forward to seeing you all again.
With warmest wishes and hoping for a brighter tomorrow,
Andy Turnage
Executive Director
