International Roots Meeting
The International Roots Meeting took place in Nairobi 15-20 of November.
Due to the security around UN Security Council Conference taking place at the same time, our program at the UN had to be changed. In waiting for the final report we will update this site continuously with material both in Swedish and English.
The International Roots Meeting is an answer to the Children’s Declaration, which was composed and declared at the Inauguration of the Children’s Meeting Place in September 2001.

Globedays 15-16 October
At the opening of the yearly Globedays, Lord Mayor of Stockholm, Mr Barry Andersson presented an authentic brick from the time when the Stockholm City Hall was built. In a special ceremony during the International Roots Meeting, the stone will be handed over to the fireplace at the Children’s Meeting Place, United Nations in Nairobi. This will also be the official announcement of the World Championship in Cooperation.

the President of Globetree Kajsa B. Dahlström signed the cooperation agreement promoting children and youth networking in Lake Victoria Region and the Baltic Sea Region.

The Globe Days
The Globedays October 15-16 is the yearly meeting with the Globetree Network. As this is mainly for the Swedish Network the invitation and program are in Swedish.

Towards World Championship in Cooperation
Globetree are preparing for a Children’s Waterway next year, inviting young people from all Water Regions in the world in conjunction with Stockholm Water Symposium.
The Children’s program will be experimental workshops, exchange of ideas, offer interactions with the delegates of the Symposium, dialogues with decision makers and give suggestion to the program for the World Championship in Cooperation 2006, hosted by the City of Stockholm together with Globetree in partnership with UNEP and LVRLAC.
Preparation for the World Championship in Cooperation has started with a brief presentation for all directors of the City Districts of Stockholm. During the autumn the program will be anchored locally in schools, NGO’s, groups in all the City Districts that want to join. The guiding themes are Environment – Diversity – Communication. The Second Prepatory Roots Meeting (Nov. 2004)
The Second Preparatory Roots Meeting inspired the Lake Victoria Network towards the International Roots Meeting, planned to be in November 2004 at the Children’s Meeting Place in Nairobi, Kenya – at the “Mother Tree”. Read about the inauguration of the Children’s Meeting Places in 6 cities around Lake Victoria (Kenya- Kisumu and Homa Bay; Tanzania – Mwanza and Uganda – Busia, Kampala, Mukono) and about the results of the 3-day seminar in Entebbe.

Report: First Prep. Roots Meeting April 2003
The first Preparatory Roots Meeting was a success!
Mayors, experts, teachers and children from three nations in the Lake Victoria Region, Nairobi and Sweden participated. Read about the 6 days in Nairobi, the follow up in 6 cities in the Lake Victoria Region and in Sweden - Personal reflections, comments, conclusions and recommendations.

Second Preparatory Meeting will take place in November/December 2003.
