Subject:      Living Machines in UK

The Findhorn Foundation constructed its living machine in 1995 and was the first in Europe. I like very much to know about the background and process that lead to the decision to select and construct a living machine.

At http://www.livingmachines.com/projects/specific/findhorn.html, it says: "Constructed on the North coast of Scotland, this Living Machine treats the sewage from the Findhorn Foundation. The challenge of this project was to treat wastewater from the residential community of 300 pe (person equivalents), while providing capacity for large seasonal fluctuations in flow resulting from over 10,000 visitors per year. In order to receive municipal approval to construct more housing, the Foundation is required to treat their sewage on site."

It must have been a unique opportunity to be able to treat, I presume, the sewage from  Findhorn Bay community and ecovillage.

The homepage says:
>The effluent will be re-used for irrigation.

What do you do with the effluent now ?
