Dear Participants,
Today we come to the last day of discussion of Kefa V O Rabah's paper
on
"Application of Sugarcane Residues as Biofuel for Cogeneration of Electricity
in Kenya".
When I first read the paper I noticed how complex this issue was. However,
Dr. Rabah presented it in a well-structured article, pointing
at the key problems of the electricity cogeneration, sugarcane residue
management and associated processes while providing valuable background
information about these industries in Kenya.
The duality of technological options and possibilities to adapt them
followed
the discussion throughout the last weeks. Beside some in-depth dialogue
of
technological details, which reflected on the enormous potentialities
in R&D,
we also saw that coordination of government and the local petroleum
industries can be just as important to have the whole system function.
Discussion showed that global scientific community has the potential
to
discover the ways in which such complex systems can be managed.
I am especially happy with one of the many experiences of this internet
forum: It helped me to realize that this new medium can be an extremely
helpful tool to explore the potentialities of scientist in different
parts of
the world for a common goal.
Before closing the session I would like to thank Mr. Jacky Foo for organizing
the conference, and I hope we will have the chance in the
future for further discussions.
On behalf of the Planning Group and the Organizers of the MFA Internet
Conference, I also wish to thank Dr. Rabah the presentation as well
as his
cooperation in responding to the questions and comments fromthe audience.
Thank you all for your participation and wish you good health for your
future
scientific activities.
