Dear all,
On Friday I had an oral presentation on the topic “Waste biotreatment in
Vavuniya-Sri Lanka” at the Congress “Microbiology of Composting”. It was a
very international event with many experts from developed as well as from
developing countries.

There was a similar general tendency as it is at this conference, as that a
lot of case studies are existing and that are existing organizations which are
collecting information of these case studies (as GTZ or Knoten Weimar in
Germany), but that the decisions maker do not have access to this information.
This leads to the fact, that a lot of mistakes are done double and triple. I
had a discussion with a lady from Vietnam. She is responsible in a project
which shall implement a composting plant in a small town. Her questions were
about how to bring air into the pile by a ventilator and how to get a very
fast composting process. She needs information for not to build a high tech
plant and experiences with simple windrow composting processes turned
regularly. I will try to give her, but there are a lot which won’t get.

So my questions are:
How can we get a network which still is working after this internet conference?

How can we reach the decisions maker at the local authorities to avoid old mistakes?

Can we create a platform on which addresses and contacts are collected,
regarding waste bio treatment?

I hope that these questions could lead to a discussion, how the interchange of
information can sustainable go on.

Kind regards
Andreas
