Subject:      material flow: survival of pathogens

Jacky Foo [foo@SWIPNET.SE] asked
>could you provide a detail list of pathogens being studied in your test
>as well as information on their survival, i.e. pathogen number in influent
>for the digester, effluent of the digester and in the compost pit after 3
>months.  This information is important.

With reference to your email dated  13 April 2000 regarding above mentioned subject, we would like to furnish you the following information.

Our record at CMS reveals that samples were drawn from the observation well for water test of the bacteriology for ova, cysts, parasites and coliforms The test carried out about two years ago revealed following results:

v No ova, cyst and parasites seen
v 2 to 7 E.coli/100ml
v Categorized as : 'B"
v The tested water is acceptable for drinking.

However, after the termination of the project, the above tests were not periodically  repeated. You have rightly pointed out that for hygienic aspects, it is essentail to conduct study on the survival of pathogens.
