Dear Jacky,
We would like to point here that the latrine-cum-biodigester was installed not inside the refugee camps but outside the camp. It was installed for the benefit of refugee affected local community who were facing pollution problem due to poor sanitation. In addition the normal programme for refugees, UNHCR has been launching special programmes in the places classified as "Refugee Affected Areas". That is why the community latrine biodigester was established at Pathari of Morang district in Nepal.
On the other hand, CMS had submitted to UNHCR in February 1996 a report
entitled "Improvement in Environment and Sanitation through Anaerobic Digestion
of Human Waste". This report is published in the context of refugee camp
and includes information that you have asked in the last sentence of your
message.
Best regards,
Amrit & Upendra
