Hi Jacky,
Thank you for the query.
As in many instances in our complicated and burocratic world, personal
initiatives have to lead the way and overcome burocratic obstacles.
The Total
Environment Foundation is one of these examples. I founded it last
year,
together with a handful of abnegated people from industry. There are
no
activities as yet, simply because I have not had the time to write
projects
that would capture funds.
The idea is basically to support graduate studies on solid waste mangement
and related fields, with funds received from funding agencies. My task
as
president at this time is to get the foundation operating. There are
no
restrictions as to the origin of funds or the geographic location of
activities. Obviously, I have to start at home.
With time, I believe I can operate a rather wide spectrum of activities.
Mind
you, this is a strictly volunteer type of job. This is the main reason
for
the slow start. I have to earn my living at the University where I
am quite
busy. My expectations are from modest to high, as the foundation represents
some sort of completely original endeavor in this country which
supplies a suitable target for my work.
Cheers,
