The tour of Our Life in April will forever be imprinted in our memory. An ash cloud from a volcano of Iceland started a row of events…please, read the thrilling story in the attached file!
If you plan to go to Stockholm – please make a visit to the courtyard of the Stockholm City Hall where you find the old oak tree and a beautiful plaque which mark the importance of the Children's Meeting Place -initiated by Globetree. It all started at the United Nations, Nairobi 2001 and now Children’s Meeting Places are coming up around the world!
We thank you for your interest, support and collaborations with Globetree!

1. New schedule for the World Championship in Cooperation (WorldCiC) in Malaysia
The WorldCiC in Kuala Lumpur will not take place in October this year – it’s postponed to June 2011. The reason is the change of leadership in the City of Kuala Lumpur and delays with the finance.
2. Study tour to Kenya, November 18 - 28
Globetree invites to a Study Travel to Kenya 18 – 28 November. Children, youth, teachers, artists, politicians at local, regional and national level, civil servants and others are invited. Let us know if you wish to join and we send you the program.
3. Match making Sweden - Uganda: the first talk for Partnership Eslöv - Lugazi
The municipality of Eslöv in the south of Sweden has expressed interest to establish partnership with a municipality in Africa. Globetree suggested Lugazi, Uganda as a good partner. Young people of Lugazi have started great collaborations between children and decision makers and have also initiated many programs to improve life for the poor. A first meeting between the municipalities is planned for November this year in Lugazi. This will be the sixth partnership initiated by Globetree. The other five have developed many exciting projects. In the coming Globetree Newsletter we plan to present some of the projects.
It is suggested to name one branch of Globetree - The Match Making Branch… well, why not!
4. Our Life - performance on tour in Sweden
Three young persons from Nairobi presented their life in the streets - a life without a roof over your head, struggling for food, life in prison and violence but also life filled with joy and solidarity. Six cities/municipalities of Sweden were visited. The idea behind Our Life began last spring when Mama Kajsa interviewed children and young people about their life experiences and dreams. All came together with music, songs and finally a drama: Our Life. We will continue to present the vision and work of Our Life and interview children and youth in Sweden and other countries - it is a venue where young and old share deep concerns and life experiences. See attachment!
5. Globedays 3–4 October. The Future Tree and the Children's Meeting Place, Stockholm
The Globedays are meetings which take place in the fall every year and the entire Globetree network is invited. If you plan a trip to Sweden beginning of October – please join the Globedays! This year we highlight two milestones of Globetree: The planting of the Future Tree at the main market place of Stockholm (Hötorget-Haymarket square) and the Children's Meeting Place which is the old oak tree at the Courtyard of the Stockholm City Hall. The Future Tree was planted in 1986 together with 600 children/youth and specially invited officials. Two beautiful enamel billboards tell the story of the Future Tree and the Children’s Meeting Place. We will invite young and old for a ceremony at the Future Tree the 3 October and a dialogue between children and politicians by the Oak Tree the 4 October.
