Muthambi Girls High
School, Marima
A boarding school for
about 700 girls on 25 acres of land (15 for infrastructure and campus grounds and 10
acres for farm activities). Serves meat once a week and requires 75 kg of beef (purchased at
180 KES/kg) each time. A well managed school and
accommodating payment of fees in the form of cows and pigs. Cows provide milk and the sale of calves and pigs provide income/food
to the boarders. For parents
who are unable to pay fees, they can contribute in kind as labour. The school has one hired farm worker who is the farm
