Gumura Spring Protection
Gumura spring is a permanent spring and its water has been tested to be potable. Before 2008, the spring was visited by wild and domestic animals as well as local and migratory birds that cause serious contamination to the water.

PACIDA intiated a project that was funded by CCF (Christian Children's Fund) and FHI (Food for the Hungry International) in 2009. A fence was constructed around the spring with the construction of concrete toughs for animals to access water from outside the protected area.

The next phase of the project in 2009 (partially funded by Northern Water Board) will be to pipe water to Maikona town (about 6.5 Km).
