On 05th April, Mayor of Kampala, H.W. Al Haji Nasser Ntege Sebaggala declared that (pending formal approval at the Ministerial level) KWWPC will be launch on 05 June 2008 (the World Environment Day and the Tree Planting Day of the WorldCiC).

KWWPC was conceived during a series of meetings (April 2008) by Jes Izaidin and Jacky Foo of the Tree Planting Sub-committee of WorldCiC with the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Kampala City.

KWWPC will be inaugurated by children with the Mayor of Kampala, Ugandan Minister of Environment, and the Primary Partners of KWWPC.
