 Makuri Girls High School, Chogoria, Meru District

The boarding school has 720 girls and located on a 12-acre land with an annex of 1 acre for agricultural projects as part of the school curriculum. 6 acres are used for infra-structure.


A meeting was held on 5th March 2009 with the principal Mrs. Jane Kithinji, the agriculture teacher, Jacky Foo (Globetree) and the Local coordinator Robert Kithinji (Local Rabit Network Coordinator for Meru Area). After a tour of the premises, a tentative agreement was made where in Makuri Girls High School would contribute upto 40,000 Ksh and Globetree (on behalf of Fondation Pour Les Autres) would equally match it with another 40,000 Ksh for additional materials, labor and coordination of the construction of a rabbit house. At least 12 cages will be constructed in the rabbit house..

A site was suggested by the principal.

Construction work for Makuri (Chogoria) rabbit project started on 23/4/09. It will take about five days to complete.We are using five workers with George being the main carpenter.
