CG-Ngong : Project Activities

Proposed site for demonstration of wastewater treatment and use of treated water for crop irrigation.

Problem (09 April)
: a drain empties sewage and storm water into a lowland beside CGG-Ngong and created a swamp (Pic 1 on left) of about 400 m2. Overflowing wastewater enters a main municipal drain further downstream (Pic 2 on right).

A Technical Solution: The problem could be solved by digging a drain (marked in red) around the lowland to divert all wastewater directly into the municipal drain. The lowland can then be used as a constructed wetland to demonstrate treatment of sewage using plants and the use of treated water for irrigation for crops that is grown on its embankments.
